International Kenpo Camp 2004
April 16 & 17, 2004 The New England Chinese Karate Federation attracted almost 90 participants from various New England Kenpo studios to its first International Kenpo Camp held on April 16 & 17, 2004 at the Family Martial Arts Center in Fitchburg, MA. Instructors for this historic camp included: Mr. Lee Wedlake of Fort Meyers, Fl, Mr. Gary Ellis of Plymouth, England, Mr. Steve - Director of the New England Chinese Karate Federation - of Manchester, NH, Dr. Len Brassard of Fitchburg, MA, and Mr. Mark Richards of Plymouth, England. Assisting the Instructors were Mr. Jim Peacock of Mont Vernon, NH, and Mr. Bill Gaudette of Webster, MA. The Camp's theme was: The Application of Kenpo Principles to Multiple Attackers. Participants were first introduced to the standard two-person techniques of American Kenpo (as created by Mr. Ed Parker), and were then given instruction on how to correctly formulate answers to various "what-if" scenarios derived from the two-person techniques. For example, Mr. Lee Wedlake first demonstrated the standard technique: Falcons of Force, and then changed the timing of the first move to teach a connection to the technique: Snakes of Wisdom. Participants were also taught how to take standard Kenpo techniques designed for single attacks, and combine them into multiple attack situations.
